Restorative Yoga/Myofascial Release

Schedule a private restorative yoga and myofascial session that meets your individual skills and goals.  Our certified yoga and myofascial release specialist will take you through stretches and releases that are specific to your body’s needs. 

Restorative yoga is a gentle, slow, still style of yoga that involves long, passive holds in a series of 4-6 restful poses. Yogis are often supported by props to enhance or deepen their experience and achieve a state of total relaxation and release.

Restorative yoga enables deep relaxation as you hold poses for longer periods of time with the help of props to completely support you. The focus of Restorative Yoga is that by relaxing in poses, with the aid of props, without strain or pain, we can achieve physical, mental, and emotional relaxation.  Restorative yoga allows us to relearn the art of relaxation while developing the skills and abilities to self-soothe.

Self Myofascial release is also facilitated during your session.  It is done with therapy tools provided by the instructor. Myofascial release focuses on reducing pain by easing the tension and tightness in trigger points. SMFR is a vital tool that should be used by athletes to enhance their performance, as well as by weekend warriors who don’t want to groan loudly when they try to stand up from their chairs after their first Monday morning conference call. 

Both Yoga and SMFR enhance our healing capacity through helping us regulate the stress response and re-balance the nervous system.

Pilates Reformer

Schedule a private Pilates reformer session that meets your individual skills and goals.  Our certified Pilates specialist will take you through exercises and stretches that are specific to your body’s needs. 

A Pilates reformer is a bed-like frame with a flat platform on it, called the carriage, which rolls back and forth on wheels within the frame. The carriage is attached to one end of the reformer by a set of springs for resistance.

The reformer offers all the benefits of Pilates including overall strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. These things, in turn, lead to daily life improvements like better posture, graceful and efficient movement, and for many, relief from pain associated with physical imbalances such as back pain. The reformer is large enough to accommodate full-range motion, which is wonderful for increasing flexibility while building strength. It seems to invite the length you want to create in the body, and it trains the body to sustain that length. Flat abs, strong backs, toned buttocks, and firm thighs are all results of this emphasis.
